Salviati  Estate and it’s park

A few steps from the cottage, a private gate, strictly reserved to the Troncolo’s guests, gives access to the forest, a nature reserve which is part of the Regional Park of Migliarino, San Rossore e Massaciuccoli. Crossed the entrance, you will find many long paths among pines, “cipressi calvi” (taxodium distichum), oaks and holm oaks in an area of 2000 hectares. There, may happen to see deers, wild boars and other wild animals that live in absolute freedom. In fact  the Migliarino Park is a natural oasis strictly linked to the history and to the foresight of a man, Scipione Salviati, who in the middle of the 1800 transformed these places from unhealthy swamps to a marvelous example of model farm.
The Salviati, one of the most ancient and important Tuscan family, related with the Medici, are the owners of these lands since 1500, but only in the 19th century the forest was studied for a sustainable exploitation of wood and the harvest of pine-nuts.
